Reflets d’écumes

Vents d'Ouest

A mermaid saves a prince from drowning and tries to make himself loved. But the prince is only a man and his court is blood and hate.
What does a mermaid love when the fairy weather is over?

“Reflets d'écume is my first album published. This album dates back to 1994. The album was published by Éditions Vents d'Ouest. We had signed, Ange and I, for five volumes and then finally, as often happens, for lack of sufficient readers... our series is stopped in the second volume.

It was frustrating because I was taking my marks, my drawing, although clumsy was improving a little and my colors from the beginning (very dark and cold) had a wider palette... Also magic appeared in the last three volumes... With hindsight and because it is better to be positive, I would say that this abrupt stop of the series (for any young author, it must be the same thing) will have allowed me to explore different themes and horizons faster... Graphically, and with all the hindsight that I am allowed to have, I would say that it will have allowed me to progress faster and to gave me the feeling of a revenge to take (from a graphic point of view). As far as the story is concerned, it's something else entirely... it's an adventure that stops abruptly... for the authors, but also for the reader!

But I still have memories of that first album. First of all, and this is perhaps the case for all the young authors publishing for the first time, I was sure that it was the most beautiful album in the world (what's for sure?)... And that since it was the most beautiful album in the world, the whole world would read it. The reality of sales catched up with us quickly, and since then... I work my best and that's all! But there is something else not to forget, concerning me... I met professionals at trade shows, and a few readers!

For this album and for my first salon I got the “meilleur espoir” (best hope) award... Prize awarded on the occasion of the Hyères comic book fair by the president of the jury: Rosinski himself... I met one of the authors I like the most!”
